My Social Media Cleanse

“The energy of the mind is the essence of life.”

~ Aristotle, “The Philosophy Of Aristotle”

Hello, Beautiful Reader ~

This blog post is a bit different from my usual fare, but I feel the need to share the benefits of going on a social media cleanse. It’s a game changer…in a very good way! Have you ever taken a dedicated break from cyber reality?

You can begin the cleanse without even going to much effort.  Just by taking a few deep cleansing breaths, sipping on some sweet tangerine tea, and reciting a new type of sacred mantra: “I am the master of social media…it’s not the master of me!” absolutely  works wonders.

The reason I decided to pull the plug on a few social media platforms  for, give or take, a week (I didn’t delete my accounts…just deleted the apps from my phone) was because I’d become a slave to the grind of social media. And since I kept getting inner nudges to take a break from the lovable…yet, at times, crazy-town of social media…I knew it was time to follow my intuition and step back from the wonderfully wacky world of cyber socializing.

Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE social media, on many levels, but I wasn’t living my life in a way that felt truly healthy. Have you ever felt that way about social media?
For instance, I was waking up and connecting to social media instead of waking up to sunrises (like I once did). I was connecting to the wrong “power” source and it was draining my physical battery…not to mention my phone’s battery!

Instead of curling up with a book, I was curling up to scroll all my social media feeds. Nothing wrong with checking out what’s happening in social media land, of course, but checking-in way too many times within the course of a day, for me, just wasn’t feeling good and, frankly, was starting to drive me bonkers! That’s when I knew I needed to get a handle on it and heed my inner urgings to take some time away and step back into my power…instead of bleeding out my power to Facebook, etc.
Again, this isn’t a rage against the machine called social media, no, not at all. This was me deciding to recover my power and regain my balance. I was RESTORING myself by rewiring my brain and reconnecting to my very own unique creativity. So, if you’re feeling like you need to refresh your life and rewire your brain for a few days or so…I can say from experience…you’ll reap the magical benefits of a dedicated detox from social media. This marvelous practice of rewiring your brain actually has a scientific name:  neuroplasticity.

Will I saddle back up and ride on the horse of social media, once again? Absolutely. Although now, I’ll be much more aware of my time, and if I ever feel I’m losing my equanimity, I’ll just do another cleanse…without hesitation.

This is an experience I highly recommend! It’s only made me stronger and more deeply connected to the true energetic power source (GOD) more than ever. And I know it will do the same for you.
You’ll be lighter and brighter than before you started, I guarantee!

With so much love,

Angela ~ xoxox
